The weather was picture perfect with warm temperatures and a nearly cloudless sky, an excellent day for a running show. It was a long ride for many NEAR members but that would not hinder the turnout as 19 cars filled the pits Saturday afternoon. The track arranged for a full 1 hour of practice which resulted in plenty of seat time for club members and that made the trip very rewarding. In addition, the NEAR feature was outstanding with cars exchanging position in a very realistic but safe fashion. Most of the cars were close together for the better part of the display which added to the realism of the show. All our members did a great job in the feature.

The afternoon was not with out a few bad breaks though as the 06 Coupe, Ace of Spades and the Cent experienced some mechanical problems. The 06 went back on the trailer early with transmission problems, very disappointing after all the travel to the track. The Ace of Spades suffered from ignition woes early resulting in a flurry of activity as crew and other club members assisted with repairs. Hard luck story of the day went to the Cent as they were delayed in arriving at the track and scrambled to get some practice time. During practice the car was loose resulting in several spins. With everything finally under control and while in the staging line for the feature the engine quit running. Several members using tools borrowed from one of the local race teams hurried to find and repair the problem. Unfortunately, the Cent would have to sit out the feature with an ignition problem.

Overall the event went very well with a very good turnout and an excellent show was put on by club members. Also noteworthy was the good attendance by Star, they had in excess of 15 cars by my count and ran well all afternoon as well. With the 2 clubs in attendance there were over 30 vintage racers at the track, quite an impressive site as one walked up and down the pit row
