As both founder, and one of the top drivers of New England's Pro-4 Modified division, popular Dan Merservey Sr.'s racing career began really gaining steam during the 1970's at a small dirt track nestled within the confines of the small Cape Cod community of Chatham, Massachusetts.

An almost immediate success with fans, the 4-cylinder division soon outgrew its humble roots. In 1978, the Pro-4 Modified class began a weekly residency at Seekonk Speedway in Massachusetts, remaining a popular draw for a number of seasons.  
Subsequent campaigns saw the series go on the road, competing at virtually all of the regions short tracks. The division served as a springboard of success for many racers who would later graduate to various NASCAR endeavors. 
 
During his decades-long New England racing career, the seemingly tireless Merservey has contributed much to the region’s auto racing community. Club founder, respected championship-caliber racer, and promoter, he's been involved in virtually every facet of the sport. 
 
In 1975, he served as the final promoter of the Lakeville Speedway, a former Massachusetts dirt half-mile oval.

In addition to his Pro-4 endeavors, Merservey has also successfully competed in several other series including the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour.
